WHO SHOULDN’T HAVE A PEEL?
• There are some circumstances under which it’s not advisable to have a ProSystem Retinol Peel, these include. Autoimmune disease, Active Herpes Simplex, Diabetes, Cancer, Thyroid conditions, pregnancy and breast feeding. Oral retinoids (Roaccutane) cannot have been taken for 6 months prior to having a peel and you need to stop using topical retinoids for two weeks before a peel. A peel will also be contraindicated if your skin is sun/wind burnt, have had recent surgery or open wounds, prescribed drugs with photosensitizing potential and Pre-existing inflammatory dermatoses (e.g. psoriasis, atopic dermatitis)


THE PREPARATION
• If you have sensitive skin or are trying A NeoStrata® ProSystem Retinol Skin Peel for the first time or have never used a retinol-based product, you will be advised to prepare your skin for 2-4 weeks prior to your skin peeling treatment. We recommend the NeoStrata® Renewal Cream containing retinol at a preparatory level, your skin will become accustomed to retinols ready for your professional treatment.


THE PROCEDURE
• Your treatment will begin with the ProSystem pre-peel deep cleanser, The NeoStrata® ProSystem Retinol Peel is applied to the skin in the Salon. The peel solution is applied to the face and left on for 10 minutes under observation. During this time the client will experience a light tingling sensation, which is completely bearable, with no stinging and burning. The Product will be left on the skin after absorption then you are free to leave the salon, being careful to stay indoors. You will be required to wash your own face at home with a gentle cleanser. In the cases of more sensitive skins, this will be roughly 3-4 hours post procedure or 8 hours post procedure for clients with normal skin.


THE POST PERIOD
• Patients will experience visual peeling with the Retinol Peel. Moderate flaking and peeling of the skin usually begin on day two or three as the old, dull layers of skin are shed. This will normally subside after five to seven days. Flaking and peeling can be reduced with the use of moisturisers. The shedding skin must be allowed to shed naturally and no attempts to pick or speed the process up should be made. The use of a high SPF broad spectrum sunscreen is imperative during the post-treatment phase as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. If this is not applied, irreversible hypo/hyperpigmentation may occur. We recommend moisturising and protecting skin post-peel with NeoStrata® RESTORE products such as NeoStrata® Facial Cleanser, NeoStrata® Bionic Serum and NeoStrata® Daytime Protection Cream. Please Note: The expected duration of downtime is given as guidance only, and that the skins response to chemical peeling may vary from client to client with regards to both duration and degree of peeling experienced. Although the anticipated downtime is 2-7 days, clients may experience peeling and dryness for several weeks afterwards. This will be discussed with you in more detail at your consultation.
